Pile of old roots
making way for new ones
Dirt between my toes again
Thanks for your message!
Something funny happened. Try again!
Joel and Ashley Selby are a husband-and-wife graphic design team with a
passion for words and pictures. From day to day they run a small studio called This Paper Ship, but in their free time they decided to embark on a journey
starting March 20, 2009 and ending March 20, 2010, in which they
document every day of their first full growing season of marriage with
the pairing of a photo from Ashley and a haiku from Joel. They create
without knowing what the other has done (until the photo and haiku have been posted each day), letting the story of their
daily lives unfold on its own.
Ashley takes raw, barely edited photos without arranging her surroundings artificially, and Joel documents everything with spontaneous reflective haikus, mixing traditional Japanese styles with contemporary poetry.
They consider it quite a challenge to complete it every single day, and not only that, but allow the public to see it (whether they are happy with it that day or not). It's a growing process and an incredible exploration into their creativity and relationship.
Thanks for viewing!
